Tell Me About It
Having solved the matter of the Radiant Boy, Riley, Buttercup, and Bodhi are enjoying a little time-off. But then Riley encounters a young ghost named Rebecca. Despite Rebecca’s sweet appearance, Riley soon learns she’s not at all what she seems. As the daughter of a former plantation owner, Rebecca is furious about being murdered during the slave revolt of 1733. Her uncontrollable anger is keeping other ghosts, who also died in the revolt, trapped in a shimmering bubble. And when Bodhi and Buttercup inadvertently fall into Rebecca's trap, Riley is the only one who can save them.
My Thoughts
I really like Alyson Noels writing but when I read Radiance, the previous book to Shimmer I didn't really like it. I don't know if it was because I was expecting it to be more like The Immortals Series or not. Surprisingly I really liked Shimmer. I think that since a lot of the back story has already been covered in Radiance, it left it open for Shimmer to be more of a book in itself.

I love Riley, and although I was never like that to my older sister you feel sorry for her. She died before reaching the critical age of 13 and is forever stuck as a 12 year old, which has got to be bad, I for one did not like being 12. Shimmer is more fluid and continuous book and we get to watch Riley as she learns more about herself and about others around her.

In Shimmer we also get to see Riley help others out, not just for her own sake but for themselves, helping them find the inner peace needed to escape the hell they are trapped in. We also get to look inside Bodhi and Buttercup at their own worst times in their lives and watch Riley help them through it.

At the end of the book we get a sneak at Dreamland, the next book in the series and I am really intrigued about it.
