Book Wars! Unbreakable by Kami Garcia.

Book Wars a weekly feature hosted between two book review blogs – A Life Bound By Books & Much Loved Books!

It’s a fact that book lovers know all about the covers of the books they covet.  Often when a title is released here in the UK, it’s sometimes vastly different across the pond in the US.  So, Lisa from A Life Bound By Books and I have come together to create Book Wars to talk about the difference in covers when it comes to the UK vs. US versions.

We hope from time to time authors will chime in with their thoughts as well. We welcome everyone to comment and share their thoughts too! The more the merrier!

Book Wars is a new feature for both of us which we hope to post every Monday, while we get it up and running this is subject to change as we participate in other features or tours we have committed to prior to setting up Book Wars.

Before we get to this weeks Book Wars, we have a winner to announce.  The Book Wars winner for Witches of East End is....USA!
Thank you to everyone who voted for both books, and for picking a winner.

Also, there's a poll at the bottom of the post that we'd love to hear your input for the two covers! Tell us which one YOU love the most.

Synopsis:
Supernatural meets The Da Vinci Code in this action-packed paranormal thriller, the first book in a new series from New York Times bestselling author Kami Garcia.

I never believed in ghosts. Until one tried to kill me.

When Kennedy Waters finds her mother dead, her world begins to unravel. She doesn’t know that paranormal forces in a much darker world are the ones pulling the strings. Not until identical twins Jared and Lukas Lockhart break into Kennedy’s room and destroy a dangerous spirit sent to kill her. The brothers reveal that her mother was part of an ancient secret society responsible for protecting the world from a vengeful demon — a society whose five members were all murdered on the same night.

Now Kennedy has to take her mother’s place in the Legion if she wants to uncover the truth and stay alive. Along with new Legion members Priest and Alara, the teens race to find the only weapon that might be able to destroy the demon — battling the deadly spirits he controls every step of the way.

Suspense, romance, and the paranormal meet in this chilling urban fantasy, the first book in a new series from Kami Garcia, bestselling coauthor of the Beautiful Creatures novels.

Let the Wars Begin:
Its now time to make our decision, let's see what we think about the covers and pick our favorite cover.
Lisa This is a really hard week for me to choose because I really like both of them. I'd pick them up, check out the synopsis and want to read it with either cover. I think the US cover is a bit more eerie which I think is fitting for the type of book Unbreakable is, yet I like getting a chance to see what one of the characters might look like... I really don't know this week!! Since I have to pick and I haven't read the book yet I'm going to go with the UK cover. Trust me, if I could call it a tie I would.
Michelle
This is an easy choice for me this week.  The UK cover gets my vote without any doubt.  The USA does nothing for me, and even though it has a creepy feel to it I would not even stop to pick it up if I saw it on a shelf.
The UK reminds me of Ilona Andrew's Kate Daniels series, and Karen Chance's Cassie Palmer Series, both of which I love.  If I saw the UK book on a shelf I would not hesitate to pick it up.  After reading the synopsis I definitely have to read this book.
VOTE for YOUR favourite cover of Unbreakable NOW!

  1. I think these both look good! I'd probably pick up the one on the right, though. It looks more like an adventure/action story. The one on the left looks more horror to me.

  2. The US one looks to much like a horror cover to me and that's the reason I wouldn't pick it up in a bookshop. So for that reason my vote was a home vote this week with the UK :) It just looks like there's a bit more going on and the girl on the cover looks like she could be a bit kick ass!
