I had not heard of Chelsea M. Cameron or For Real before so when I got the chance to review a copy I had to take a quick look to see what the book was about before I accepted, and after seeing the gorgeous picture and reading the synopsis I quickly filled in the form to request a copy. The whole idea of fake dating had me interested in how this was going to be played out and how far the fake dating would go.
A night out with the girls with the aim of finding someone for Shannon to hook up with ends with a fight, and Shannon going home with Jett to prove a point to Hazel and her friends. What starts out as a lesson to teach others, quickly turns into fake dating and a good friendship.
I fell in love with For Real the minute I began reading, I love their idea behind it and even though I have read books that have done this before, For Real still feels unique and individual. The ending of the book is predictable, but the journey to get to the end wasn't as predictable as I imagined it to be.
One thing I didn't like how Shannon's friends pressured her into doing the deed. I thought it was selfish and wrong for them to do this, and I am glad that Shannon didn't immediately forgive them, in fact it takes a while for the full forgiveness to happen.
For Real had me hooked from the very beginning and it only took me a few hours to read, and by the time I had reached the end I really didn't want to finish reading. I enjoyed reading all the little quirks that Shannon and Jett had together, from movie watching, to chair shopping, which definitely made me laugh, and while their relationship was fake to others, you can see the sparks fly between this duo. I love how Jett is there for Shannon when she needs a shoulder to cry on, and I love how Shannon accepts the crazy Javier as part of her small group of friends. Every chapter of For Real only had me wanting more and I am so glad to see that there is another book to come in this series. While there is no information about it at the time of posting this review, I really would love to get to look inside Javier a bit more.
