Tell Me About It
Dan Garrett has become exactly what he hates—popular. Until recently, he was just another live-action role-playing (LARP) geek on the lowest run of the social ladder. Cue a massive growth spurt and an uncanny skill at taking three-point shots in basketball and voila…Mr. Popular. It’s definitely weird.

And the biggest drawback? Going from high school zero to basketball hero cost Dan the secret girl-of-his-dorky dreams.

A tuba-playing nerd with an eclectic fashion sense, Zelda Potts’s “Coolness” stat is about minus forty-two. Dan turning his back on her and the rest of nerd-dom was brutal enough, but when he humiliates her at school, Zelda decides it’s time for a little revenge—dork style. Nevermind that she used to have a crush on him. Nevermind that her plan could backfire big time.

It’s time to roll the dice…and hope like freakin’ hell she doesn’t lose her heart in the process.
My Thoughts
Romancing the Nerd is the second book in the Nerd series. After reading the first one a few years ago, I knew I had to read this one when I saw it on NetGalley. Dan and Zelda used to be best friends, until Dan became part of the popular crowd and cancelled plans with Zelda to participate in team activities. Since that moment this duo have barely spoken, and when they do it's been tense and strained. An accidental throw sends a ball right into Zeldas face, and a throwaway comment means she takes it as an intentional throw, and begins to plot revenge.

Romancing the Nerd was a sweet, quick read. From the moment I began reading I was hooked. I had to know what happened between Dan and Zelda, and also if they would ever become friends again. I love that we get to catch up with Madelyne and Logan, and seeing what they are up to.

Romancing the Nerd is a book that has more going on inside than a beautiful cover. We see romance, friendships, and bullys who get what they deserve. I love the friendship Zelda has with her best friend Beth, and how she supports her through the events in the book. I love how things aren't what they seem, the misunderstandings, the inner geek, and the slow realisation that Dan and Zelda had things wrong and were learning of thier own mistakes. The grand gesture near the end had me smiling a stupidly goofy smile, this is such a romantic things to do.

Final Verdict
Romancing the Nerd was a book I thoroughly enjoyed. I could not read it fast enough. I enjoyed getting to see the old and the new, and part of me is hoping we get to see Beth with her own book at some point.
