Top Ten Tuesday: Bookish resolutions/goals for 2018

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in June 2010. It's a chance for bloggers to share their top ten books of the chosen topic that week.
That Artsy Reader Girl now hosts on her blog, clicking the image will take you to her post.

This week’s topic is centred around our bookish resolutions/goals for 2018

I've really struggled last year with reading in general, going from binge reading books to struggling to finish one. I'm hard on myself to finish books I've requested, and feel guilty for not liking them, so push myself to keep trying, and it just ends up in a vicious cycle of book dislike. So this year my bookish resolutions that I hope to follow and stick to are....

  1. Read for myself - I do plan to read review books, and try to catch up on them all, but I also want to read for myself, read a book I've wanted to read for ages, or re-read a series (more about this one later).
  2. Relax - I'm going to try not to stress if I don't read all the book on time. Things happen and last year I had my fair share of them, so I plan to take it at a more relaxed pace this year.
  3. Enjoy reading again - I want reading to be fun again and not feel like a chore.
  4. Accept the DNF - I need to learn that it's ok to DNF a book, even if the whole world loved it. Not every book is for me and I need to accept this and move on.
  5. End the series - I have lots of series I've started and not finished, I plan to finish a few of these series by the end of the year.
  6. Read MY books - I have books that I've been desperate to read, place them on my shelf and leave them to gather dust. I want to dust off the books and read them and finally read my own books for a change.
  7. Be spontaneous - There is a possibility this wont happen, but I want to reach into my shelves and pick a book to read, no plan, no thought, just pure randomness.
  8. Re-read - I would love to be able to re-read a few of my favourite series, and I really want to put this into action this year.
  9. Listening ears on - Towards the end of the year I fizzled out on audiobooks, I have a few waiting to be read so I hope to dive back into these again, especially with my new job and longer journey home.
  10. Be proactive - I've done a few book culls, but I think I need to be a bit more proactive and really decide if I am going to eventually read that book or not.

That's my Top Ten Bookish resolutions, what are yours?

  1. Hi! These are really great. I need to not stress so much about how many books I'm reading. I think it makes me not want to read! :)
