Recent Reads: Boundary Magic + Disrupted Magic by Melissa F. Olson

Recent Reads is a way for me to round up books that I have read recently that are either too small to really give a detailed review of them, or are books read for fun with no review notes taken.

Every once in a while I get the chance to sit and read as much as I want, and during those times I'm more likely to binge read a series, especially if it's one I'm invested in.
I first read (more like listened to) Blind Spots in 2016, and although I wasn't hooked immediately, there was something there that had me wanting more, so I quickly picked up the next two books in the series and made my way though them. Along the way I forgot about these book until I stumbled upon Shadow Hunt on netgalley, and I realised I had missed out on a whole new series set in this world, as well as the beginnings of a new one.

I jumped back into this world with ease, remembering the rules of this world as well as all of the different paranormals. I liked that we got to meet new characters that have different abilities, but are just as strong and kick ass as Scarlett is.
Boundary Magic not only brings new abilities, but also new rules and a whole new set of magical creatures. I do like how these worlds connect, and how there is a crossover ability within it. I loved Lex as a character, and also how protective she is of her family and friends. I devoured these three books in a few days.

Disrupted Magic is the second series from Scarlett Bernard, and I forgot how much I love her snarky attitude. This series picks up a few years after the Scarlett Bernard series, and after the Boundary Magic series (I do advise you to read these in order as there are a lot of crossovers). Being back in this world was like visiting an old friend, whos life hasn't changed much and is always in just as much trouble. I loved the little revelations within this series and how we learn new things about the characters.
