Tell Me About It
There was a time when love was the most important thing in the world. People would go to the end of the earth to find it. They would tell lies for it. Even kill for it.

Then, at last, they found the cure.

Now, everything is different. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the government demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Haloway has always looked forward to the day when she'll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy.

But then, with only ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable
My Thoughts
I read a bit of this book at amazon on a "look inside" feature and found it really interesting so decided I had to have it.It took a while for me to read it but I finally finished it and was not disappointed.

Lauren Oliver has built a world where love is considered a disease and everyone has to be cured. Those that wont get cured are called Invalids and live in The Wilds.
The beginning of each chapter gives us a line or two from The Book of Shhh or other official book that has been made by the officials.

Each person gets tested before being cured and are then matched to other people to start a life with. All non-cured citizens are on curfew and segregated, once cured they are free to mingle.

We learn about Lena and Hanna and follow the ups and downs of their friendship, the background on how they met and the build up to being cured.
Lena lives with her Aunt and Uncle but has been labeled due to her Mothers suicide. Lena grows up being told what is wrong and what is right and that being cured will make everything better. When the countdown begins for the cure we get to learn what Lena is feeling. From looking forward to being cured, to having doubts.

On a run they meet Alex, a boy who has been cured, and Lena builds up a friendship with him but keeps hims secret from everyone. When a fight happens with Hanna and they disagree on some issues Lena finds herself spending more time with Alex and feeling strange.
Lena has fallen in love. She hides how she is feeling and starts to doubt the cure, not wanting to forget how she feels for Alex, especially after meeting her "partner" the officials have put her with.

We follow Lena, Hanna and Alex, through the ups and downs of friendship, but also the ups and downs of love. What is a few broken rules if it means keeping someone special to you?

I had to add this quote in from the end of the book I love it, but its under a spoiler in case you haven't read Delirium yet.
