Tell Me About It
Let me set the record straight. My name is Charlotte Silver and I'm not one of those paranormal-obsessed freaks you see on TV…no, those would be my parents, who have their own ghost-hunting reality show. And while I'm usually roped into the behind-the-scenes work, it turns out that I haven't gone unnoticed. Something happened on my parents' research trip in Charleston—and now I'm being stalked by some truly frightening other beings. Trying to fit into a new school and keeping my parents' creepy occupation a secret from my friends—and potential boyfriends—is hard enough without having angry spirits whispering in my ear.
My Thoughts
Past Midnight is the first book in the series by Mara Purnhagen.

We are introduced to Charlotte Silver and her family, Mother, Father and older sister Annalise. Charlotte's parents have their own ghost hunting show and travel around finding ghosts to prove they don't exist. Charlotte has been to many schools, and thanks to her parents show and travelling, as soon as it is discovered who she is she is teased but hasn't had the chance to get past the teasing stage before she is moved to another school. When she starts her new school after her parents agree to stay for one year, she hides who her parents are, from her best friend Avery, and even from her small group of friends who have taken her under their wings.

Through Past Midnight, we learn about Avery's relationship with Adam and what happened between Adam and Jared. We are also introduced to Charlotte Pickens and her family who are trying to find each other. Eventually the secret of Charlotte's parents comes out, and with the help of her friends Charlotte is able to continue through school like nothing has changed. Some of them even helping get the Pickens reunited.

Past Midnight was a quick read, but kept me entertained and I finished it in one go. It has some romance, friendships and family bonds but also paranormal activity to keep me wanting to know more.
