Tell Me About It
Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.

So did his father before him, until his gruesome murder by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father’s mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.

When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn’t expect anything outside of the ordinary: move, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he’s never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, but now stained red and dripping blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.

And she, for whatever reason, spares his life.

My Thoughts
Theseus Cassio Lowood is a ghost hunter, along with his Mum they travel across the country hunting ghosts that are looking for revenge and killing humans.  The first time we meet Cas is during the middle of a hunt for a ghost hitchiker.  We follow the hunt up to the very end and we get to see what Cas can really do.  As the bok progresses we find out that Cas lives with his Mum and that his Dad was murdered by an entity.  Along with hunting all ghosts, Cas is also looking for his Dad's killer and has plans to take revenge.  As part of settling in Cas is enrolled at a local highschool which is where he meets Carmel, Thomas, Mike, Will and Chase.  Soon willing or not, this group of people will become involved in not only a ghost hunt, but a fight for their lives.

I had heard about Anna Dressed In Blood when it was released in USA and when it finally got published over here I jumped at the chance to review it.  From the moment I started reading I was hooked.  The first chapter grabs hold and doesn't let go and as the story progresses you want to keep reading to find out what happens next.  The first encounter with Anna was great, the detail from the house, right down to the dress Anna is wearing sets the scene perfectly, soon the encounter leads to an untimely death and from that point onwards the remaining people are working out how they can destroy Anna.

I really enjoyed joining Cas on this journey to find a way to kill Anna, and as he learns more about her, which is shared with the reader, you begin to feel sorry for her and soon realise everything you see or hear is not always the whole story. When the cause of her death is revealed I felt sorry for Anna. She was just a young girl wanting to go to a dance like any other teenager and was not allowed to go.
The different characters that were interlaced within Anna Dressed In Blood, both the ones that helped Cas in person or the ones that were old friends of the family all fit together perfectly to create a realistic world that you are reluctant to let go of.

When I finally finished Anna Dressed In Blood I did not want to put it down, and now I have the long wait for the next instalment to be released over here to find out what happens next.  Anyone who has not yet read this book needs to find a way to read it, you will not be disappointed.
