Tell Me About It
Welcome to New York City, where the socialites are witches.

Jane Boyle thought she'd met the man of her dreams. But it's hard to live happily ever after when you realise your new mother-in-law is literally a witch, determined to steal the magical powers you didn't even know you had. When Jane discovers that the man she fell in love with is a mere pawn in her mother-in-laws cunning plan, she flees. Now Jane is alone and on the run, hiding out in Manhattan.

But Jane can't hide forever... One magical Park Avenue makeover later and Jane is ready to settle the score with her witch of a mother-in-law. In her new guise as Ella the Brazilian beauty, Jane meets the devilishly handsome André. The magical blood that teems through her veins draws her inexplicably towards this mysterious man. But is André all he seems? And can Jane make it into the witches' den to overthrow the most evil of witches?

My Thoughts
When I finished reading 666 Park Ave, I knew I had to find out what happens next and I have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of The Dark Glamour. When my copy arrived I had to wait to finish my review books before it, but dove in as soon as I had the chance.
Jane is still in New York, but has disguised herself in order to blend into the background but still be around to keep an eye on her Step-Mother. Although Jane's disguise originally starts off badly, it soon changes drastically, not only for her, but also for Dee, who I was happy to see play an important part in Jane's new life. This duo make an ideal friendship and fit together perfectly, each complementing the other, with Dee also playing part in Jane's ultimate disguise.
While most books that are the second addition to a series fall into the 'middle book syndrome' where they are used more as a filler and we don't gain in the plot or character development, The Dark Glamour has managed to develop both the plot and the characters, and add a twist to the story I was not expecting. After finishing The Dark Glamour I know which side of the line some characters stand on, but a few I am confused about their motives and if they were really against or for Jane, so I am impatiently counting down the days to discover more about these characters and if we actually get to see who's side they are on.

The Dark Glamour has all the magic and mystery that 666 Park Ave has, and managed to keep me fully engrossed in the storyline, and while I don't agree with some a lot of things Jane does, part of me can understand her reason for doing it, but part of me still thinks she could have walked away from it. While the ending might not have the dramatic effect 666 Park Ave had, The Dark Glamour still packs a punch and I can't wait to see what this group of misfits does next.
