Tell Me About It
Geneva “Neva” Ross doesn’t want to die. But now that she’s been turned into a werewolf against her will, she’ll do anything to protect her family and friends…even if that means taking her own life.

After witnessing Neva’s leap from a high ledge, Travis Williamson—a Changeling with a dark past—uses his powers to save her life. He feels a connection to the strong-willed woman whose eyes flash that familiar Changeling green. While Neva is hospitalized, Travis risks everything to kidnap her, knowing the approaching full moon will put everyone in jeopardy.

Bickering constantly to hide their growing attraction, Travis and Neva run from the authorities…and from Neva’s sinister sire, Meredith de la Ronde. Meredith delights in creating new shape-shifters and compelling them to do her dark bidding; now Neva must join Meredith’s murderous wolf pack…or die.

Intensely suspenseful with deliciously sexy twists, this paranormal romance—the first in (the title of series)—intertwines sensual passion with an epic, thrilling battle between good and evil.

My Thoughts
When I first saw First Bite on another blog I found myself drawn in by the synopsis.  When I found it on netgalley, and was accepted to review it I was excited to make a start on it.
Geneva, Neva, is having a tough time with what's inside her, our first introduction to her is during her plan to end her life, to kill what is inside her, which fails spectacularly.
Travis interferes with her plan, and calls for help, keeping her safe until it arrives, but before we thinks its the last we see of him he ends up breaking Neva out of hospital.  Neva does her best to get away as far as possible from Travis, yet he is determined to stay close, help her though her first change.

First Bite is the first book I have read by Dani Harper, and while I did like it, I wouldn't say I loved it.  I liked the world author has created, and the characters within it.  I also like how she has weaved magic and changeling's into it seamlessly.  But I also think parts of First Bite were long winded or repetitive, a lot of the information could have been explained in a prequel, prologue, or a 'this is how it all works' chapter.

To me it felt too drawn out in some parts, the pacing was too slow and no headway had been made, and then other times it felt too rushed.  It took far too long to get anywhere, when they finally did only then did I find myself really engrossed in what was happening, only to have it all over and done with so fast.

Overall First Bite was a good read, and now that learning the history is over and done with, I am hoping that when the next book is written the pacing will feel better and more realistic, without the repetitiveness of having to learn about the history all over again.
