Book Wars! The Beautiful and the Cursed by Page Morgan (40)

Book Wars a weekly feature hosted between two book review blogs – A Life Bound By Books & Much Loved Books!

It’s a fact that book lovers know all about the covers of the books they covet. Often when a title is released here in the UK, it’s sometimes vastly different across the pond in the US.  So, Lisa from A Life Bound By Books and I have come together to create Book Wars to talk about the difference in covers when it comes to the US vs. UK versions. We hope from time to time authors will chime in with their thoughts as well. We welcome everyone to comment and share their thoughts too! The more the merrier!

Before we get to this weeks Book Wars, we have a winner to announce. The Book Wars winner for Linger by Maggie Stiefvater is...both. We have another draw!!!!!!!
Thank you to everyone who voted for both books, and for picking a winner.

Also, there's a poll at the bottom of the post that we'd love to hear your input for the two covers! Tell us which one YOU love the most.

Ingrid Waverley is a young woman to be reckoned with. Faced with her brother's mysterious disappearance after an abrupt move to Paris, she is determined to discover what has happened to him. Soon she and her sister Gabriella are drawn into a Parisian underworld more terrifying than they could ever have imagined, but watching over them are two impossible (and impossibly handsome) young men. Luc is a 'Dispossessed', an ancient gargoyle whose sworn duty it is to protect the humans who inhabit his abbey. Nolan has secrets of his own too. He is a member of the Alliance - a shadowy group dedicated to keeping Paris safe from the demonic forces that threaten to destroy it.

Secrets, danger and hidden powers stalk the girls in this beautifully imagined paranormal romance that will keep readers gripped from beginning to end - and one thing is for sure - you'll never look at a gargoyle in the same way again...

About Page:
I'm the author of the YA Gothic thriller THE BEAUTIFUL & THE CURSED, along with
its sequel THE LOVELY & THE LOST. I've been intrigued by les grotesques ever since I came across an old, black-and-white photograph of a Notre Dame gargoyle keeping watch over the city of Paris. I wanted to tell that gargoyle's story. Soon, the idea for The Beautiful & the Cursed was born.

I live in New England with my husband and our three daughters, an English Pointer puppy, an arrogant cat, two cuddly bearded dragons, a bunch of chickens, and during the summer and fall, our neighbor's two sweet horses.

Let the Wars Begin:
Its now time to make our decision, let's see what we think about the covers and pick our favourite cover.
Oh gosh... this is so rough! Why do we keep choosing books where I love something about BOTH covers!!

Okay, so I LOVE the colors used in the US cover. Not a huge fan of the swooning woman on the cover because to me I'm not sure how that fits with the story. However the Eiffel Tower in the background... perfect!

The UK cover. I like the gargoyle and the model used to portray the female protagonist. I like the rain and how dark the cover is.... Yet there something about it that kind of puts me off. Yet.. I think this week’s vote for me goes to the UK cover. If I could blend these two covers together I think it'd be pretty amazing and over the top perfect!

I LOVED this book and need to try to read the second one soon. It's really amazing and if you'd like to check out my review >>>>Click here<<<< This week the UK cover gets my vote! Which one will YOU be voting for?

This is an easy choice for me. While I do like the USA cover, I think it's very pretty, my favourite has to be the UK version.
The UK version is more creepier and mysterious. I love how we have the protagonist, a gargoyle, and town in the far distance. The effect of the rain is also a nice touch.

I really need to pick up my copy and get this one read.
