Book Wars! Model Misfit [Geek Girl #2] by Holly Smale (97)

Book Wars a weekly feature hosted between two book review blogs – A Life Bound By BooksMuch Loved Books!

It’s a fact that book lovers know all about the covers of the books they covet. Often when a title is released here in the UK, it’s sometimes vastly different across the pond in the US. So, Lisa from A Life Bound By Books and I have come together to create Book Wars to talk about the difference in covers when it comes to the US vs. UK versions. We hope from time to time authors will chime in with their thoughts as well. We welcome everyone to comment and share their thoughts too! The more the merrier!

Before we get to this weeks Book Wars, we have a winner to announce. The Book Wars winner for Lead by Kylie Scott is...US!!!!!!
Thank you to everyone who voted for both books, and for picking a winner.

Also, there's a poll at the bottom of the post that we'd love to hear your input for the two covers! Tell us which one YOU love the most.

“My name is Harriet Manners, and I am still a geek.”

Harriet knows that modelling won’t transform you. She knows that being as uniquely odd as a polar bear isn’t necessarily a bad thing (even in a rainforest). And that the average person eats a ton of food a year, though her pregnant stepmother is doing her best to beat this.

What Harriet doesn’t know is where she’s going to fit in once the new baby arrives.

With summer plans ruined, modelling in Japan seems the perfect chance to get as far away from home as possible. But nothing can prepare Harriet for the craziness of Tokyo, her competitive model flatmates and her errant grandmother’s ‘chaperoning’. Or seeing gorgeous Nick everywhere she goes.

Because, this time, Harriet knows what a broken heart feels like.

Can geek girl find her place on the other side of the world or is Harriet lost for good?

Let the Wars Begin:
Its now time to make our decision, let's see what we think about the covers and pick our favourite cover.

Another quick and easy week for me. The US cover is just kind of blah. There's nothing much to it really. Am I the only one who thinks it's kind of boring-ish?

Now when you look at the UK cover, there's something that makes me want to pick this book up. It looks like a fun book to read and I'm all about geeks - being a self professed one myself.

If I were to pick up both books in a store I'd want to know more about the UK cover before the US one. Again, it just looks playful and makes me want to read these books sooner rather than later.

So, my vote = UK. What goes YOUR quick click below? Share it with us, please?
I love the cover for the USA cover, how it's feminine but also shows the little things that make Harriett who she is. However, I've been staring at the UK cover of this book since publication, and when this book is mentioned this is all I can envision.

The UK cover shows all the bits that are Harriett. The problems, the formulas, and I just love the facial expression of the model.

It's a UK vote for me today, which cover gets your vote?

VOTE for YOUR favourite cover of Model Misfit by Holly Smale NOW!

  1. The UK cover is just way cuter.

  2. US cover, just cause I'm not a fan of people's faces on cover in general.
