Book Wars! The White Rose [The Lone City #2] by Amy Ewing (109)

Book Wars a weekly feature hosted between two book review blogs – A Life Bound By BooksMuch Loved Books!

It’s a fact that book lovers know all about the covers of the books they covet. Often when a title is released here in the UK, it’s sometimes vastly different across the pond in the US. So, Lisa from A Life Bound By Books and I have come together to create Book Wars to talk about the difference in covers when it comes to the US vs. UK versions. We hope from time to time authors will chime in with their thoughts as well. We welcome everyone to comment and share their thoughts too! The more the merrier!

Before we get to this weeks Book Wars, we have a winner to announce. The Book Wars winner for Walk the Edge by Katie McGarry is...US!!!!!!
Thank you to everyone who voted for both books, and for picking a winner.

Violet, Ash and Raven have escaped the palace of the Duchess of the Lake, but Regimentals are hunting for them across the city. Nowhere is safe, and they are dependent on Lucien and his secret society for survival. If they can reach the safety of the White Rose then Violet may be able to help Lucien in his plan to rescue more surrogates. For one surrogate, however, it is already too late. Violet's best friend, Raven, is pregnant. And in the Jewel, surrogates cannot survive giving birth.

About the Author:
Amy Ewing is the young adult author of The Jewel, the first in a trilogy from
HarperTeen, coming out September 2014.

She grew up in a small town outside Boston, where her librarian mother instilled a deep love of reading at a young age. Amy moved to New York City in 2000 to study theater at New York University. Unfortunately, her acting career didn’t quite pan out. She worked in restaurants, as an administrative assistant, a nanny, and a sales representative for a wine distributor before the lack of creativity in her life drove her to begin writing.

Amy received her MFA in Creative Writing for Children from The New School, where she was lucky enough to meet a fabulous community of YA writers who keep her sane on a daily basis. She lives in Harlem, where she spends her days writing, eating cheese, and occasionally binge watching The Vampire Diaries.

Let the Wars Begin:
Its now time to make our decision, let's see what we think about the covers and pick our favourite cover.
For me, this week there is no question. I LOVE the US cover. In person it's pretty beautiful as well. I love how her dress is blended so well into the white rose. I love all the small images you can also see almost like ghosts of her throughout the cover as well.

As for the UK cover... just not feeling it. The title is white rose yet they have pink rose petals falling. That's not the only reason why I'm not a fan, but that's one of the key things I'm seeing that just doesn't work for me. So the US is getting my vote this week.

Now it's your turn to vote! Give us a quick vote below and let us know which one YOU like the best.
This is such an easy choice for me this week. I think both of these covers are beautiful in their own way, but the one that wins for me is the US cover.

The UK cover is pretty and shiny in real life, and I do like the flame and petal effect, how the characters are central and very in your face, but a pretty dress wins the round for me.

The US cover has such an amazing dress on the cover and I love how it blends into a rose, which fits perfectly with the title.

For me, the winner is US this week, don't forget to vote for your favourite below.
